The Cross-Cultural Foundation of Uganda (CCFU) is a national non-governmental organisation dedicated to promoting an appreciation of culture as a vital aspect of human development and as a response to our diverse identities. Through its Cultural Heritage Safeguarding and Promotion programme, CCFU has been actively supporting cultural enterprises across Uganda that promote both livelihoods and the preservation of cultural identity and expression.
Since 2018, through the Cultural Entrepreneurship Project (CEP), the Foundation has worked with women from Indigenous Minority Groups (IMGs) and youth groups to support income generation and the intergenerational transmission of cultural knowledge and skills. By 2022, CCFU had supported 8 groups and 6 community museums which demonstrated that investing in cultural enterprises is useful in generating income which the groups used to improve their livelihoods. Further, the groups invested in cultural tourism enterprises whose social and economic benefits had a trickle-down effect to the communities.
