We the representatives of the above organisations stress that:

Religious and Cultural institutions should promote cultural inclusivity and diversity and use available spaces and opportunities to promote the enjoyment, expression and access to cultural rights.  Cultural institutions and religious institutions should mobilise their subjects and flocks respectively, to promote cultural inclusivity and expression.

Human rights organisations and Human Rights defenders should recognize cultural rights as the motherboard for the realisation of all other categories of human rights such as economic, social, civil and political rights. Human rights organisations should also mainstream cultural rights in their programming activities meant for other categories of human rights.

Local government authorities need to mainstream culture in the district development plans/interventions and establish desks within districts to take care of culture-related activities within the district programmes. They should also promote the inclusiveness of different cultures while recruiting staff and during procurement processes.

This statement was made during a training event conducted by the Cross-Cultural Foundation of Uganda for representatives of Human Rights Organisations, Cultural and Religious leaders and Local government officials from Abim, Kaabong, Karenga and Napak districts. The training was intended to enhance the capacity of the participants to appreciate the notion of cultural rights and how they can contribute to sustainable development.
