Uganda joins the international community of museums to commemorate International Museum Day. This day was established by the International Council of Museums (ICOM) in 1977 and it is observed globally on 18th May every year. This year’s celebrations are conducted under the international theme “Museums for Research and Education” aiming at pointing out museums as dynamic education institutions fostering creativity, curiosity, and critical thinking.
Uganda is commemorating this day under the theme Museums shaping knowledge for the future and the celebrations are held at Soroti Regional Museum in Soroti City officiated by the Vice President of Uganda, Her Excellence Major Jessica Alupo.
